 The ANC-6090 adapter provides the PC user with a low cost solution to change serial comport signals into RS-422 signals to control multimedia equipment (VCR, DDR with DB9 SMPTE interface).

Hardware Flexibility
 RS-422/485 - signal levels meet or exceed the Recommended Standards (RS).  The RS-232C side mates directly with a PC's DB-9 serial port connector.  This makes the adapter an ideal solution for connecting external RS-485/422 equipment up to your PC or portable computer.  The adapter finds wide use in high-speed long distance serial communication, or to interface a PC with equipment that uses an RS-422 type input/output. The adapters are powered by the host computer system's signal lines. This eliminates the need for an additional external power supply making the adapters an ideal choice for portable use for many installations.
 Extended cable runs or terminated connections require more current than the serial port power can provide, so the RS-422 connector can accept +3 to +12v DC at 150 milliamps to provide the added power to the adapter and we also offer an ANC-6090X version adapter which includes an external power supply connected to the adapter.

Software Compatibility
 Because the adapter just converts RS-232C to and from RS-485/422 level signals, no specific software modifications are required to operate the adapter with off-the-shelf applications that use the serial communications port.  The data direction can be changed on the adapter by using the RTS line.  See our ANC-6085 (DB-9 connector as 6090) or ANC-6185 (terminal block / RJ-45 connector) adapters if automatic transmit/receive is desired.
